Garlic
It’s hard to imagine a more universally loved food than garlic. An essential part of almost every culture’s cuisine, it seems lately that its popularity is only increasing - and that trendiness is well deserved. Garlic has a huge number of positive health benefits to its credit, especially when eaten raw.
Like many natural foods, garlic is at its most powerful when consumed au naturel. The heat from cooking can destroy the effectiveness of its beneficial chemicals. Garlic should simply be chopped or crushed and then added directly to your food. Crushing the garlic cloves also has the added benefit of improving your access to the nutrients inside, which aids the digestive process. For even more efficient digestion, it is best to consume garlic on an empty stomach, allowing for the fullest absorption of nutrients.
Depending on which study you read, there is hardly a disease or malady that garlic isn’t supposedly able to treat. Science will tell you that garlic can help prevent or control atherosclerosis, heart attacks, coronary heart disease, cholesterol levels, and blood pressure levels.
But that's not all, as the hits just keep on coming: bug bites, the common cold, flu symptoms, fungal infections, diarrhea – all can be alleviated totally or in part by adding garlic to your diet. It also purportedly has the power to control the symptoms of diabetes, prostate issues, and osteoarthritis. As if all that weren’t enough, garlic can help eliminate toxins and strengthen the immune system if ingested regularly. These properties, in particular, lead many to use garlic as a detoxifying agent after chemotherapy sessions.
For maximum effectiveness, a mix of honey and garlic is recommended. The preparation is simple:

Honey and Garlic

Finely chop 2-3 cloves of garlic and add a tablespoon of honey.
This mixture, when ingested daily, can boost both energy levels and your immune system. For an even more potent recipe, try the following:

Garlic Flu Tonic

  • 5 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, chopped
  • Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 red chili peppers, coarsely chopped
Instructions:
Take care to wear gloves or otherwise protect your skin, as sensitive areas might be adversely affected if exposed to the natural oils in the ingredients.
In a 350-500ml Mason jar, mix all the ingredients together, then top the jar off with apple cider vinegar. Seal the jar with about 1cm of space left at the rim, and keep it in your pantry. This mixture should be taken daily on an empty stomach to prevent sickness, or until symptoms disappear.
